If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put foundations under them. — Henry David Thoreau
Thoreau was speaking to the daring dreamer in all of us, who wants to accomplish great things in life - but is not quite sure where to begin. For some, it may seem backwards to start with the dream, and worry about the details later, but the greatest visionaries in history knew this was the way to get results.

The start of a new year; a great time to think about the changes we would like to make in our lives. Write them down. Put them on your desk or on your nightstand so you see them every day. Know that life is not what you make of it but what you create of it!
Newsletter Evolution
I am creating exciting changes in my life for 2009, which I share with you, here and now.
My newsletter will change to a monthly Newsflash! with a new format. I will continue to have guest articles to provide you with an array of expertise in the equine and holistic veterinary field. Clients often share with me that they feel isolated with what they are doing. Those of you who have chosen to take this journey with your horses, on the path to finding the truth, are pioneers. You may have the sense that few understand what you are trying to achieve, and thus perhaps consider you to be eccentric in your approach.
The monthly Newsflash! will add an "Ask the Doc" section. As it has been said, "to question is to grow". I invite all of you to submit your questions on dogs, cats and horses.
In future months, you can look forward to an abundance of information, in articles such as
- Omega vs. Alpha Leaders
- Chinese Medicine – An Education Series
- Are You Training a Trooper or a General?
What are all those letters?
Recently I was asked what all those initials after my name mean. Well…
CVA stands for Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, one certified in the practice of acupuncture
Acupuncture, used as an adjunct after the body is brought into alignment, brings nothing short of miraculous results! It is all about bringing the chemical electrical body into balance and goes hand-in-hand with the quantum restructuring bodywork.
CVT stands for Certified Veterinary Tui-an, one certified in the practice of Tui na
Tui na (pronounced twee-na), one of the five healing Chinese medical arts, is Chinese medical manipulation, somewhat akin to a combination of chiropractic, osteopathy and deep tissue massage. It has expanded my knowledge and skills in restructuring and realigning of the equine, canine or feline body.
My training and certification has been achieved through the Chi Institute, directed by Dr. Huisheng Xie, a third generation Traditional Chinese Veterinary (TCV) medicine practitioner. These studies have opened up a whole new world for me to offer my patients. Where western medicine is about overpowering, Chinese medicine is about balancing and prevention. Chinese medicine can be successfully used to treat most conditions and is especially effective for chronic conditions that western medicine views as incurable. In fact, I have just returned from taking a TCVM Diagnostic and Advanced Equine Acupuncture Techniques at the Chi Institute. This recent training was nothing short of inspiring. It was pure joy to work with a group of dedicated veterinarians truly committed to healing, knowledge and open mindedness!
Clinics
I am excited to announce my partnering with Joy Turner, noted animal communicator and radio show personality, offering two clinics, one for horses and one for small animals, with each clinic being a series of three workshops. For more information, contact our clinic host:

Tom Nagel is returning to the NW March 13th-15th with his "Zen and Riding" clinic series. I took his clinic a year ago and it gave me the tools to change my riding more than anything I had done in the preceding 35+ years. The changes it has made in my everyday life and health, not to mention my riding, are worth the price of the clinic several times over. He is for humans what I am for horses - aligning the body, bringing balance and resulting health.
Quantum Healing, Quantum Horsemanship
I am thrilled to announce that in October 2009 I will be offering the first session of onsite classes in quantum equine healing and quantum horsemanship. This is part of the culmination of my vision of empowering people through knowledge. I have been getting more and more requests to shadow and apprentice with me, so what better way to offer a great learning experience than in a multi day classroom setting with others of like mind! More information on this opportunity will be divulged as details are worked out.
